From Waiting to Healing: Timeline of Gary’s Heart Transplant
October 23, 2025 - HOSPITAL ADMISSION
Gary was admitted to the hospital due to defibrillator/pacemaker activation.
Oct 23 – Dec 17, 2025 (55 days) - WAITING FOR A HEART
Gary remained hospitalized on continuous Heparin and Lidocaine drips while waiting for a donor heart.
December 18, 2025 @ 4:30 AM - THE CALL
Gary received the call that a donor heart was available. Surgery was scheduled for 3:00 PM
December 18, 2025 - HEART TRANSPLANT SURGERY!
FINALLY received a new heart! Following surgery, Gary was moved to the ICU with an open chest.
December 19, 2025 - SURGERY, PART 2
Gary returned to surgery to close his chest (2–3 hours) and was then returned to the ICU.
December 22, 2025 - RECOVERY PROGRESS
Moved from the ICU to the Stepdown Unit.
December 29, 2025 - HEART BIOPSY
A routine biopsy of the new heart showed no signs of rejection.
